This teaching shows us faith is not a tool to bend God’s will to our own desires, nor a means to secure personal gain or selfish ambitions. True faith is a humble trust in God’s perfect plan, aligning our hearts with His divine purpose. It is the courage to say, as Jesus did, ‘Not my will, but Yours be done’. It draws lessons from Jesus’ temptation in Matt. 4 and how Jesus’ response to the devil should inform our walk in faith.
